VTG Large Royal Hickman Design Green Fish Planter Vase California Pottery 16”W.

Offered is an epic Art Deco era, sea green Fish Planter, designed by Royal Hickman with original foil label attached. This design was made in a California Factory in the 1940's and is quite a rare find (Possibly designed for Vernon Potteries prior to his move to Haeger Pottery). It is in excellent vintage condition with one small area of wear to the paint on the edge of the fish's rear fin -see photo. No chips, cracks, repairs. Clean on the inside as well as the outside. Please see all photos for detail on condition. Most of the original foil label is intact, reading: “California Designed by Royal Hickman”. I have not been able to identify another piece exactly like this. A highly collectible addition to any Haeger, Royal Hickman or California Art Pottery Collection!

Royal Hickman designed pottery, glass, silver, aluminum, furniture, lamps, and other items. Mr. Hickman operated his own pottery in Tampa, Florida, during the 1940s. He moved to California and worked for Vernon Potteries. From 1938 to 1944 and again from the 1950s to 1969, he worked for Haeger Potteries.
