Historical Context: The original cathedral was built between 1837 and 1883 as a monument of thanksgiving for Russia's salvation from Napoleon's invasion. It was later demolished in 1931 during the Soviet era and was subsequently rebuilt in the late 1990s, opening in 1997. The artwork depicts the original 19th-century structure.
