Here we have a Sterling Silver Heart-Shaped Table vanity mirror created by Black, Starr & Frost in 1779 during America's Revolutionary War (1775 to 1783). The era was known as the Gregorian era and this is an exquisite example of American luxury, again, manufactured and retailed by Black, Starr & Frost (circa 1890–1910). As a product of America’s oldest jewelry firm, this piece reflects the high "Rococo Revival" aesthetic popular among the Gilded Age elites. The frame features intricate repoussé silverwork, characterized by high-relief motifs of scrolling foliage, flowers, birds, and cherubs surrounding a heart-shaped beveled glass mirror. Crowned by a prominent scrolled cartouche intended for a personalized monogram, the mirror is typically set against a velvet wrapped mahogany easel on it's backside. Its romantic design and master craftsmanship make it a quintessential collector's piece from the Revolutionary War Gregorian era. It's very rare to find 247 year old American decorative art in such good condition. Please closely view our pictures as they are an important aspect of our overall description.
