St. Agatha is one of only seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin, who is commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass. According to legend, she was persecuted by a Roman perfect and underwent tortures, including the amputation of her breasts.  She was martyred in AD 250.

In modern times, she is considered the Patron Saint of breast cancer patients, although throughout history she is also considered the patron of nurses, rape victims, and torture victims.

Prayer to Saint Agatha:
Dear Virgin and Martyr, whom the Church recalls in her liturgy, you heroically resisted the temptations of a degenerate ruler.  Subjected to long and horrible tortures, you remained faithful to your heavenly Spouse.  Saint Peter, we are told, gave you some solace and so you are invoked by nurses. Encourage them to see Christ in the sick and to render true service to them. Amen.

Very fine and detailed, two-sided, silver-plated St. Agatha Medal is imported from Italy.  Reverse side of medal says PRAY FOR US.  The beautiful high-quality silver-plated 1.2" Crucifix is from Jerusalem.  New.  You will be delighted with this high quality item which is not available anywhere else.
