This is a stunning pair of vintage lion head door knocker style clip back earrings. They are done in a shiny bright gold tone with hand painted black accents in the textural mane. The eyes are green rhinestones and in the mouth is a little faux pearl. Hanging from each lion is a large enamel hoop trimmed in a textured gold. The door knocker part is quite unusual compared to others; it is thicker and more oval with a beautiful smooth black enamel finish. Each earring measures approximately 2 ½ inches long and 1 ½ inches wide. These are not signed, but definitely of designer quality. They are quite substantial and fairly heavy.
They are in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. There is no black enamel loss and the gold finish is lovely and shiny. There may be a few tiny spots of gold finish loss, but they are hard to find and only show with magnification. Any white flecks you see on the black enamel is just dust from taking the pictures and handling. The rhinestones still have a nice shine, although one is not quite as bright as the other three. You obviously don’t see it without magnification, but it may have something wrong with it. The clip backs have removable comfort pads that keep them sitting firmly on the ear lobe. These would be perfect for anyone who loves lions, is a Detroit Lions fan, or was born under the sign of Leo. Leos are born July 23rd to August 22nd. The sign originated from the constellation of Leo. They are an impressive pair of earrings that will be noticed by everyone.
