Aquatic Garden started with a bag of fabric scraps when I was an art demonstrator for the Framingham Artists Guild, and this is what I made of them! The background is one piece, and the circular motifs from similar black and white pieces fit in the corners, with some whispy plants growing out of two other scraps. Then the lacy gold mesh overlaid on the upper left corner completed the layout during that session. The two fish came in later, and the gold mesh laid over black gives the piece a striking border.

As for the shape, I like the regular but unusual aspect of the curved sides.

My artwork is mounted on foam core, which creates a light-weight but rigid piece with a wire for hanging and  a felt backing. It is treated with a sun-block spray, although prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may eventually cause fading.
