This is a pair of hand painted and hand crafted earrings made from real coins from Peru. The top part of the earrings are coins that that show the coat of arms of Peru surrounded by the text “Banco Central De Reserva Del Peru” (The Central Reserve Bank of Peru). It mints and issues metal and paper currency.

The date has the hole punched through it so I can't read the last digits. It is most likely the 1970s or 1980s. The back side of the coin shows a partial 1, but the post backing is mounted so you cannot read the coin values. The beads are made of clay. There are two reddish purple beads on each earring and a handpainted black and white bead in the center. The black and white beads have a native Peruvian bird design. Hanging from the beads are two brass Llamas with a coiled piece of brass hanging from each Llama.

These handcrafted earrings measure approximately 2 ¾ inches long and ¾ of an inch wide. They are in excellent condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. They were rarely worn.

This is a beautiful eye catching pair of earrings that you can wear with dressy or casual outfits. Each earring is a miniature work of art and is sure to be a conversation starter.
