This hand carved antique wood panel depicts a man on a horse. It is carved from 1 solid piece of wood in a 3-dimensional scene and is gilt painted with a red wash and green detailing. This interesting piece is also layered with a dark lacquered like base, bordered in red paint and sprinkled with glass mica, mimicking snow or starlight!

Closely observed the man and horse have carved detailing in their features, gear and clothing.
This wonderful workmanship was part of a large window or door screen, room divider or elaborate headboard.

EXCELLENT+. Good color saturation. There is paint fading and chips on the piece from the age & elements and the corners of the panels are bumped. Repairs made have been over time since surface cracks from wood age are present on the back.
