up for sale here is a very unusual set of bowls
they are from Thailand and show the bowl from when it is woven ( looks like a basket) to the finished product with its hand etched ornamentation
from beginning to end to make one bowl takes approx 51 days or more
some of the bowls are labeled and numbered, the last is numbered 18 so there might have been more to this set at one time (there are 14 here)
Looks like someone had traveled to Thailand and brought these back in about 1967 ( paper on the finished one , which has fell off says that this is a completed bowl , the process taking 51 days and sell for about 15 cents in Thailand in 1967 (#18)
the finished bowl has a couple chips on the top, also others show damage, but I found it interesting on one that was almost complete that the lacquer was chipped off in places to show the woven basket underneath, at 1st I thought this was 2 different sets of bowls til I started to read the papers on the bottom and see they told and showed the story of how these interesting bowls were constructed and how long they took to make
measurements vary just a little but are approx 2 1/2 " tall and 4 3/4" across
