MARCELO H DEL PILAR is featured in conjunction with this conference because he was a great Filipino writer, journalist, satirist as well as a revolutionary leader of the Philippine Revolution. He was also one of the leading ILLUSTRADO (knowledgeable) propagandist fo the Philippine War of Independence.
He served as editor of the vernacular section of the DIARIONG TAGALOG, the first Philippine bilingual newspaper in 1882.
