Item description for Vintage Kabana Dolphin Porpoise Brooch Pin Pendant Sterling Silver

This is a vintage Dolphin mother and baby calf brooch and pendant. It is marked “STER” on the back for Sterling and is signed “KBN” for the designer Kabana. Kabana was formed in 1976 in New Mexico. This brooch is quite unusual as there is a hidden bale to create a pendant, which folds up inside the back of the dolphin when wearing it as a brooch. You usually see either a brooch or a pendant; this is a combination of both in one piece of jewelry. It is approximately 2 ¼ inches long and 1 inch tall. It weighs .30 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 8.50 grams.

This graceful pair of Dolphins is in nice vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I have not polished or buffed the surface and there are tiny surface scratches that show in the magnified photos that may or may not buff out. You don't really see them without the magnification. I will leave any polishing up to you as many people prefer the finish that comes from age. It has a secure holding roll over style pin back and a pendant loop to add a chain necklace.
