This pair of delicate hand crafted Dreamcatcher earrings is made from twisted metal wire in a spider web design inside a large circle or hoop. The center is accented by a tiny turquoise nugget or chip bead. Each earring has three detailed feathers dangling and suspended from the circle. The hoop portion of the earring measures 1 ½ inches in diameter. The earring hangs down 3 ¾ inches from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the feathers. I’m not sure what the metal is, it looks like an antiqued silver or pewter, it is quite dark and is unmarked. A magnet does not stick to it and I have not had it tested.

According to Wikipedia, the dreamcatcher originated with the Ojibwe Nation. The Dream Catcher is supposed to capture bad Spirits and protect the sleeping person from evil, letting through only the good dreams. In the morning the first light will destroy the bad Spirits. Dream Catchers were often given to the parents of newborns to place above the crib to bring about good dreams.

These earrings are in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I have not polished them; I will leave that up to you as many people prefer the older patina. They have French or Shepherd Hook wires for pierced ears. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

These are perfect to wear with your favorite pair of jeans for a casual day out. These would be a wonderful accessory addition to your wardrobe, especially if you enjoy the Southwestern style. They are sure to bring lots of compliments as they swing from your ears when you walk.
