Comments: These photos originally came as part of a group lot of Sewell and Winans family photographs (all sold individually) belonging to James Albert Winans (born in 1872), son of James Addison Winans (1839-1917) and Mary Antonette Sewell (1845-Unknown). Other Sewell family photos in our inventory include: William Henry Sewell; E. May Sewell and her husband J. Gould Hoyt; Mrs. A.H. Sewell (mother of Dorothy Sewell Metzger); Lette Sewell; Belle Sewell Kent Schlager; and E. Lena Sewell. All of the Sewell family photos were taken in studios within the state of New York. Meanwhile, on-line research reveals James Albert Winans, grandson of William Henry Sewell, was born on February 8, 1872 in Sidney Center, New York and married Matilda Sweet (1874-Unknown). Our reserve inventory includes several Winans family antique photographs (all sold separately) including Isaac Winans and family (Oxford, New York photography studio); Joseph Smith Winans (Sidney Centre, NY and Centre Point, Iowa); Henry Winans (Oxford, NY studio); James Albert Winans (Sidney Centre and Utica, New York studios); William "Will" Winans (brother of James Albert Winans, died at the age of 15); and Lide / Lida Winans (sister of James Albert Winans, died at the age of 17).
