This is Captain Picard, one of a set of three commemorative silver coins depicting the main cast members of the hit TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Produced by Chicagoland Processing in 1992, this is an officially licensed product of Paramount Pictures. Each coin is one troy ounce of fine silver and struck in accordance to proof condition, and conforms to the specification contained on the Certificate of Authenticity, which accompanies the coin. It is encapsulated to protect it and comes in a 6" x 4" blue suede holder with metal reinforced corners and the Star Trek logo embossed in silver on the front. The first coin features Captain Picard, the second coin features Counselor Troi with Commander Riker and the third coin features Worf, Data and Geordi LaForge. The common reverse design features the NCC 1701-D Enterprise, and each comes with a color pamphlet with a bio of the character(s) depicted. Only 5,000 matched number sets were ever produced, and only 10,000 total coins, making this a genuine rarity for Star Trek collectors. This is a new, unused coin that we purchased direct from Chicagoland many years ago for the purpose of resale and it has been stored in a smoke and pet free environment.
