This is a lovely silver tone metal filigree pendant with the Shriner’s logo. The chain is signed on the clasp “J.H.P.”, which is the makers mark for the J.H. Peckham & Company in Attleboro, Massachusetts.  They were in business from 1893 to 1934 and were known for their fine pierced jewelry. This was most likely made in the 1920s or early 1930s, during the Art Deco era. The Company usually used Rhodium to plate their jewelry, (but this could be any type of silver metal) and they made brooches, bar-pins, pendants, and bracelets.

The pendant measures approximately 1 inch tall (without the attached bale) and ¾ of an inch wide, with delicate & detailed filigree designs cut into the metal frame surrounding the camphor glass. Even the sides of the pendant have a pierced design. The glass has “rays” cut into the back, with an enameled Masonic Shriner’s symbol in the center on the front inset onto a Guilloche Enamel blue design. The back has a screw where the front centerpiece is attached.

The blue in the photos has a slight turquoise tone to it, but it is more of a powder blue color.  The chain measures approximately 18 ½ inches in length, it may be snug on some necks, more like a choker. It is somewhat difficult to latch due to the dainty size; you will most likely need to have someone help clasp it behind your neck, but the closure is nice and secure. The clasp also has a lovely intricate design.

This pendant necklace is in very nice vintage condition for its age, as you can see by the enlarged photographs. It could us a professional cleaning, but I did not want to risk damaging the finish or the enamel by trying to polish it, so I will leave any cleaning up to you. There are a few darker blue spots on the enamel and some tiny areas that may be defects, there are no chips or cracks in the glass. Without the magnification it looks quite beautiful and you don't see the tiny defects that show when magnified. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.
