Deliciously sweet.  Introduced in 1898 by Thomas Laxton

 Any pea that was introduced over 100 years ago and is still widely grown should tell you volumes.  Reliable, consistant, and sweet are just some of the words used to describe this pea.

 Tasty bright green peas, excellent quality, and high in sugar content.  Pods grow to about 3-4 1/2 inches containing six to eight peas.

 Vigorous 3' foot vines are perfect for fences or arbors.  A performer in cool coastal conditions and it is wilt resistant.

  Instead of building a trellis this year for your peas which cost money and uses valuable resources, try planting Cayuse oats instead as a trellis.  This will not only produce oats and build biomass in your garden, but it will give your peas something to climb on.  Cayuse grows 6' tall and will make an excellent living trellis.  Almost like the Indians using corn as a trellis for beans!

We are a small family run seed processor that has a long tradition of farming for many generations. The stories bring to life the courage and creativity required to survive capricious weather and market prices. Our history makes it clear that the rewards of farming, including the birthing of the calves, the bounty of a good harvest, and the family's feeling of being rooted in the soil. I still remember with pride, getting to sit on my Grandfathers lap while driving the tractor for the first time during corn harvest.
 
In addition to commercial crops, most family farms also have large gardens to grow much of the food consumed on a farm. Growing your own vegetables, flowers, spices and herbs, canning and freezing were a normal part of life on the farm. We always saved seed from each plant for starting the cycle for the next year.
