Padmapani is of a peaceful male deity, wearing a crown, jewels and heavenly garments and the sculptures illustrate Buddhist themes an stories of the Buddha's previous lives called jataka stories. Figures of bodhisattvas, nature spirits (yakshas) and guardians reflect Mahayana doctrines.
