This is a highly detailed vintage Buddha brooch in what appears to be brass. The Buddha is sitting on a rectangular pedestal base with three oriental characters or symbols on the inside. I don’t know what the characters represent; I had one person tell me they believe it has something to do with joy of books. If you are familiar with the meanings, please let me know. The background that the symbols are on is a filigree style pattern. To one side there is a flowering tree, most likely meant to represent the Bodhi Tree or Lotus blossom flowers and vines. This brooch is unsigned with no maker’s mark. It measures approximately 2 ¼ inches wide and 2 ¼ inches tall. It is a substantial piece of jewelry and weighs1 ounce on my postage scale, which converts to 28.35 grams. This could be worn as a pendant if it was attached through the openings at the top to a cord or chain necklace.

This brooch is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I have not polished it as many people prefer the patina that only comes with age. Depending on your own taste, I will leave any polishing up to you; you can keep it in the same condition with its original patina or polish it.
