This is a beautiful gold tone or gold plated chunky scallop shell necklace. The shell has a gorgeous textured ribbed surface. Both sides of the shell are golden. The shell is attached to the necklace by two bezels on the back. There are natural earth tone wood and cork beads threaded onto a tan cord necklace. This is a substantial necklace and weighs 2.7 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 76.54 grams. It is approximately 28 inches in length. The large pendant shell is 2 ¾ inches wide and 2 ½ inches tall.

It is in good vintage condition, but there are some light tarnish spots on the two gold beads and the clasp section of the necklace (see enlarged photographs). There is a little wear on the rope next to the the clasp from the necklace being opened and closed.The shell and the rest of the beads look great. This is probably from the 1970s to 1980s. 

What a fun necklace to wear to the beach or on a cruise. It is an eye-catching necklace that will be the perfect accent for any dress or with your favorite pair of jeans. It would be the ideal accessory for any Mermaid costume.
