Description: A hand carved wood and polychrome painted American Folk Art figure. The carving shows a tall bearded man with a tall hat and a robe standing on a flat base. The man, which represents Santa Clause or father Christmas, was carved and painted by Doug Shaw of Penryn, Pennsylvania. The figure is wearing an over coat colored in purple with a gold and black colored edge. Santa has a flesh colored face and hands and a white long beard as well as white eye brows. The figure has a dark green colored robe under the coat with gold colored holey leaves near the base having red berries. The piece is signed and dated by the artist on the back near the base. The carving shows quite a bit of details. The entire piece appears to be carved from a single piece of wood. Just a wonderful and nicely done piece of American Folk Art to add to your Americana Collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
