Comments: Doris Doe was an American operatic contralto, born March 22, 1899 in Bar Harbor, Maine. She died December 26, 1985 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She made her stage debut in New York in concert in 1925 after study with Louise Homer and Frank LaForge. She went to Germany and spent 1929-30 in Berlin and Cologne singing in concerts. She made her opera debut in Dresden at the Semperoper as Erda in Das Rheingold in 1930. From 1932-1947 she sung at the Metropolitan Opera especially in Wagner roles.
