The career of the incomparable CIGAR is the focus of this documentary. Owned by Allen and Madeleine Paulson, the wonderful CIGAR became one of the sport's electrifying performers in the mid-1990's, under the tutelage of Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, and went on to tie CITATION’s North American record for consecutive wins - 16.

After an unspectacular career as a turf performer through age three, his fortunes changed when he moved to the Mott shedrow at age four, and switched to the dirt surface. After an easy win in an allowance race in October, 1994, the son of PALACE MUSIC wouldn't lose for two more years. In the process, he flashed his brilliance in winning many of the sport's toughest tests at top venues across the country, and on the international stage.

He won the Breeders' Cup Classic, the Dubai World Cup, the Hollywood Gold Cup, the Donn Handicap (twice), the Woodward Stakes (twice), the Pimlico Special, and more. The long, captivating win streak earned him back-to-back Horse of the Years honors in 1995-96, and eventual induction into the sport's Hall of Fame in 2002.

After CIGAR’s retirement, Allen Paulson sold a 75% interest in CIGAR to Ashford Stud. However, CIGAR was found to be infertile. After extensive testing and treatment, he finally found a home at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, where he has had a profound impact inspiring and entertaining millions of fans in the Hall of Champions.

This detailed show will include interviews with Madeleine Paulson, Mott, jockey Jerry Bailey, John Nicholson, executive director of the Kentucky Horse Park, and others. Re-live some of CIGAR's greatest moments!
