This is an outstanding and unusual ethnographic set imported from the Zigua people of Tanzania. It features a pair of figures that have been carved from a heavyweight wood and then ritually wrapped and bathed in a magical substance to empower and activate them. These particular figures are used for protection from the recently dead as well as those wishing harm. They are old and have a deep patina from handling and ritual use.
