THE TRAVERS STAKES RACES 1930 AND 1952-1987.....34 RACES IN THEIR ENTIRETY - FROM START TO FINISH...taken DIRECTLY from track film archives...an extremely rare collection!

For over 139 years this championship event has taken its place as one of the jewels of the racing season at Saratoga Racecourse and has caused upset, created controversy and crowned champions - THIS IS THE TRAVERS STAKES (Gr. I), the Mid-Summer.

This EXTREMELY rare compilation features the 1930 and 1952-1987 TRAVERS STAKES (except for three missing years: 1955, 1956 and 1965) 34 RACES ALL IN THEIR ENTIRETY FROM START TOFINISH! Please note: 1930 AND 1952 -1971 (have no sound and is in B&W), 1972 (has sound and is in B&W), 1973-1987 (have sound and color).

THIS 34-RACE TIME CAPSULE offers a look at and its historic centerpiece. Among the highlights you'll see why Saratoga is nicknamed, "the Graveyard of Favorites", with actual 1930 film footage of the most memorable upset in history of the favorite, GALLANT FOX, losing to the 100-1 outsider, JIM DANDY; DAMASCUS' amazing 22-length win in 1967; JATSKI's 1977 win due to RUNDUSTY RUN's disqualification - the first horse ever disqualified in the Travers; AFFIRMED and ALYDAR's LAST AND MOST CONTROVERSIAL RE-MATCH in 1978.

Through the years the Travers Stakes has played host to a parade of champions and participants:

GALLANT FOX, JIM DANDY, TOM FOOL, NATIVE DANCER, GALLANT MAN, SWORD DANCER, AMBIOPOISE, JAIPUR, RIDAN, CHATEAUGAY, QUADRANGLE, KNIGHTLY MANNER, HILL RISE, BUCKPASSER, AMBEROID, DAMASCUS, CHOMPION, ARTS AND LETTERS, DIKE, BOLD REASON, WEST COAST SCOUT, KEY TO THE MINT, TENTAM, TRUE KNIGHT, BIG SPRUCE, ANNIHILATE 'EM, STOP THE MUSIC, TWICE A PRINCE, ARBEE'S BOY, HOLDING PATTERN, LITTLE CURRENT, CHRIS EVERT, WAJIMA, PRINCE THOU ART, VALID APPEAL, HONEST PLEASURE, DANCE SPELL, MAJESTIC LIGHT, RUN DUTSY RUN, IRON CONSTITUTION, ALYDAR, AFFIRMED, GENERAL ASSEMBLY, SMARTEN, PRIVATE ACCOUNT, DAVONA DALE, SCREEN KING, TEMPERANCE HILL, PLEASANT COLONY, LORD AVIE, SUMMING, RUNAWAY GROOM, CONQUISTADOR CIELO, GATO DEL SOL, SLEWO'GOLD, DEPUTED TESTAMONY, CARR DE NASKRA, CHIEF'S CROWN, TURKOMAN, SKIP TRIAL, DANZIG CONNECTION, PERSONAL FLAG, BROAD BRUSH, JAVA GOLD, CRYPTOCLEARANCE, POLISH NAVY, ALYSHEBA, GULCH and BET TWICE.

Hall of Fame trainer, ELLIOTT BIRCH, saddled four Travers winners in a 13-year span: SWORD DANCER 1959, QUADRANGLE1964, ARTS AND LETTERS 1969, and KEY TO THE MINT 1972. But ELLIOTT BIRCH wasn't the only trainer to dominate the Travers, BURT MOLHOLLAND won it five times - the only trainer to do so in racing history. His most famous Traversw inner by far was JAIPUR who was engaged in the most desperate stretch duel of all time with RIDAN; they locked up for the entire race stride for stride breaking MAN O'WAR's track record in the process in 1962. Another memorable Travers is the 1966 renewal featuring BUCKPASSER and AMBEROID. You'll hear the actual call of many of the races, some by Fred Caposella - the voice of racing.

The romance and elegance of an era long past are re-visited each summer in and the Travers Stakes is one of its marquee events.

A truly remarkable vintage collection of racing history that you won't find anywhere else can be yours...a tour-de-force of non-stop action - 34 races in all!
