Sago Worms, the Superfood off the beaten track from Thailand.
 
Sago Worms are healthy, proven full of protein and nutrients alternatives to m??n?tr??m ?t??l?? ?u?h as ?h??k?n; ??rk, beef and even f??h. 
 
You can eat some types of worms but not all worms for one of is the sago worm, which is equally known as coconut worm, palm tree worm, palm grubs, palmetto grub, palm tree weevil, edible maggot, Asian palm weevil, grugru, grew-grew or sago palm weevil.
 
Sago Worms, a delicacy among the indigenous people of Thailand can be eaten live as snacks it tastes good on its own raw, and like bacon or meat when cooked.  Different countries have different sago recipes, for example, it can be eaten either raw or fried, roasted, steamed, toasted, barbequed, cooked, battered and deep fried. Sago worms can also be used for preparing stews, soup, sago salad, sago kebabs, sago kabobs, satay sago and sago pudding.
 
It can also be coated with sago flour before deep-frying. Sago worm delicacies are equally served during events, ceremonies, festivals and special occasions. In Vietnam, the red palm tree grub is referred to as ?uông d?a or coconut beetle-larva. The people usually eat the grub raw with fish sauce.
 
International detailed report states that the dried and defatted sago worm is comparable to an egg protein. Coconut worm is an excellent source of protein (66.3%), amino acids, oil (37.1%), ash (5.2%), linoleic acid (3.51% of total lipid) and energy. Other researchers reveal that coconut worm is also an excellent source of magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, potassium, phosphorus, fatty acid, lipid, dietary fiber and carbohydrate.
