Black Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida)

Black Eyed Susan plant, or Orange Coneflower as its sometimes called is native to the Mid-Atlantic region. A beautiful and useful plant indeed! This plant looks fabulous when planted in mass with others daisy-like flowers such as Purple and White Coneflowers. The plant will come to you in a 3.5 inch pot. Soak thoroughly before planting. Water regularly until established.

Description: Black Eyed Susans are a daisy-like flower, deep yellow in color, with black center cones. They grow about 3 - 4 feet high, and produce multiple blooms.

Culture: They grow in average soil with average moisture in full sun to partial shade. They can also tolerate some drought., once established. Bloom time is mid summer into early fall and they are hardy to zone 3.

Companion plants: Purple Coneflower, White Coneflower, Blazing Star, Butterflyweed

Wildlife benefit: Birds love the seeds produced in the cones. A great plant for bird gardens.

Eco-friendly grower

All of my plants are grown using earth friendly techniques, from seed collection to watering with rainwater. Pots are 100% recylced, some are re-used containers, others are made from recycled plastics. Plants are fed with PLANT-TONE by Espoma, an organic fertilizer and/or worm castings. I grow plants that can replace those lost to development in order to help sustain wildlife that depend on them. You can be assured that you are not getting plants from the wild, which is unethical and further contributes to habitat loss.
