The now deceased relative who had this in her box of needlework projects, was born in the late 1800s. She was in a nursing home from the 1980s and all her things have been in storage until now.

She was quite skilled in sewing, crafts and needlework including embroidery and crochet. At first I thought this was a commercially made item, but then in looking through all of her project I find similar and older ones which had been repaired (darned).  Therefore, this item may be one of her handmade pieces though it may have been made by her mother.  At any rate, people in their era did not just throw things away whether socks or doilies, they repaired them.

The runner measures 45 by 16 inches.

It shows signs of aging and use including small holes in the body and one of the roses needs reinforcing.  It needs darning or repair, ironing, cleaning, starching, blocking or whatever is appropriate for the project in mind.

Please examine the photos, they are part of the description.
