Book Description: New York: G.P. Putnam, 1936. Stated 3rd impression. Hardcover, 8vo - measures 8-1/4" x 5-1/2" wide. Navy blue boards with gold title on spine and front cover. Corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Dust jacket present with chipped top and bottom, adhesive remainders on inside flaps and on inside cover boards. Dust Jacket now in Brodart mylar jacket. 315 pp. Previous owner's name written on ffep. Interior very clean and no marks present. Very tight and complete binding. Background Information: John Howard Lawson was the co-founder and first President of the Screen Writers Guild. However, he was one of the 'Hollywood Ten' who fell foul of the House of Un-American Activities Committee by claiming the 1st Ammendment and refusing to answer questions. Lawson was found guilty of contempt by Congress and sentenced to 12 months in Ashland Prison and fined 1,000.
