Item description

1940s Full Color ALICE IN WONDERLAND Litho Book Print "Fetch me a pair of gloves and a fan!" seaside*collectibles is pleased to bring you this scarce Early to Mid 20th century (1940s - 1950s) lithographic book print of Alice in Wonderland which is a lovely depiction of ALICE in early children's illlustrations. DETAILS: Page dimensions 10 1/4 " x 8 1/4 " Image dimensions 8 " x 6 " Full Color Lithograph. Medium stock weight paper. Unsigned. Title of image is printed at bottom of page. ALICE sports a blond, bob-cut hairdo and is wearing a light blue block striped frock with white mary jane shoes. Image depicts: The WHITE RABBIT giving orders to ALICE in a waterside garden setting with a cottage in the distance. The White Rabbit is the first Wonderland character Alice encounters. She follows him when he hurries into his hole and thereby enters Wonderland. He appears to be late for his job with the Duchess. While walking through Wonderland, Alice comes upon his house where the White Rabbit, still in a hurry, mistakes her for his housemaid Mary Ann, and orders her to get his gloves and a fan. When she grows and gets stuck in the house, the Rabbit orders Pat to get her out. In the end we discover that the White Rabbit is a herald in the Queen of Heart's court. The White Rabbit is nervous and always in a hurry. However, he is confident enough about himself to contradict the King of Hearts. Dean Liddell, Alice's father, might have been an inspiration for the White Rabbit." --AWS [ed] CONDITION: Considering the print's age, it is in EXCELLENT condition. Corners and edges are bumped with age toning throughout. Page turning wrinkles all along the bottom margin and turning edge that extend somewhat into the image by 1". Light rust mark along the page edge at the top left margin area. Sewn binding edge of page is rough. Printing on the back. These noted elements do not adversely affect the image which has a color pallet that is bright brilliant. PERFECT for achival framing. 2 - 4 prints look great displayed together.
