He lived during the time of the settlement of Jamestown in 1607 by the English. Among the exciting events of his story are: the first sight of a sailing vessel; an escape from enemy warriors; a battle with a wounded deer; Pocahontas saving the life of Captain John Smith; the capture of Pocahontas by the English, and her marriage to John Rolfe; an escape from a wounded bear; and the attempt of the Indians to drive the English out.
