Item description

Offered here is a vintage original U.S. lobby card for the Warner Bros. Pictures' 1949 re-release of the Paramount Pictures' 1932 film A FAREWELL TO ARMS, starring Gary Cooper, Helen Hayes, Adolphe Menjou, Mary Phillips and others. This card, number 3 from the set of 8 cards, features a close romantic image of handsome Lt. Frederic Henry (Gary Cooper) holding nurse Catherine Barkley (Helen Hayes) in his arms. Measuring 11x14 in., it is in fair condition with some bends, tears, creases and stains, mostly on the right and left sections of the white border. There is also a vertical "v" shaped crease which measures approximately 2.25 in. on the bottom section of the border through the word "Farewell" and a paper tape measuring approximately 8 in. on the back which reinforces the front left edge side of the lobby card (see photos). A FAREWELL TO ARMS; Warner Bros.; 1932; dir: Frank Borzage; cast: Helen Hayes, Gary Cooper, Adolphe Menjou, Mary Phillips, Jack La Rue, Blanche Friderici, May Forbes, Gilbert Emery. A Farewell to Arms is a 1932 American drama film directed by Frank Borzage. The screenplay by Oliver H.P. Garrett and Benjamin Glazer is based on the 1929 semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway. Nominated for a total of four Academy Awards including "Best Picture," the film won two (for "Best Cinematography" (Charles Lang) and "Best Art Direction" (Hans Dreier and Roland Anderson).
