Item description

Andy Warhol, signed in print numbered, stamp authenticated by CMOA (Carnegie Museum of Art) I'm offering a rare lithograph from the set "Portraits of the 70s" from ANDY WARHOL (6.8.1928 / 22.2.1987). Facts: Artist: Andy Warhol Arch / Motive: 40 cm * 50 cm / 30 cm * 30 cm Motive: Dennis Hopper, 1970 Editor: Museum of Art, Carnegie Institute Pittsburgh Year of Edition: 1986 Limited Edition: 1514 / 2400 / numbered with pencil on front, on verso stamped CMOA Reference: Portraits of the 70s, page 66 Signature: Signed in stone Condition: perfect, no tears creases This unique print is from a limited edition and not like the often offered unlimited prints from Andy Warhol with the note "published by Sunday B. Morning" and "fill in your own signature". You get here an incomparable print signed lithography with a lasting and a steady rising value. This stunning collections of 112 Andy WARHOL portraits - two variations each of 56 people - is published in conjunction with a major exhibition organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art. Celebrated in the sixties for his Pop paintings of Campbell's soup cans, film stars and disasters, WARHOL has found equal renown in the seventies with his commissioned portraiture. Here, in glorious color, are Andy's remarkable interpretations of his friends: collectors, art dealers and the Beautiful People. Among those included are Diane von Furstenberg, Halston, Mick Jagger, Brooke Hayward, Liza Minelli, Carolina Herrera and Yves St. Laurent. The introductory essay by Robert Rosenblum, one of America's most distinguished art historians, places WARHOL's work in the context of traditional portrait painting. In translating "the journalistic medium of photography into the realm of art", WARHOL revised this traditional at a time when it had been largely abandoned by most serious artists. His use of the mechanized look of commercial photography grants WARHOL a new "aesthetic language" and an utterly contemporary style that paradoxically preserves its subject for prosperity. Price structure of WARHOL prints handsigned numbered (250 series) min. 40000 signed in stone numbered (see this sale, 2400 series) min. 1000 unsigned unlimited Sunday B. Morning editions min. 400 poster min. 10 FAQs: COA:The only serious COA for Warhol prints comes from the Board of the Warhol Foundation. The examination costs are all in all about 2000. It will be issued for handsigned lithographies or handpaintings which have value of min. 20000. Provenance: All the offered prints come directly from the editor. The spot on the upper side is a magnet for fixing the print.
