Tchaikovsky and von Meck never met - they agreed that they never would when their 13-year friendship began. She was a wealthy widow and he, a struggling composer. Though they never met face-to-face, she poured her money into his career. He did not need to work on anything but his music, thanks to her help. She listened to his works, praised them and criticized them. Slowly, the unknown composer became one of the most famous musicians in the world. Other than cover to flyleaf could use a bit of tape (fully intact!), and a small cloth slit at top of spine (easily taped), both the cover and the book are in positively excellent condition.
