Item description

California Pottery Maxine Cloud Pitcher Vintage 40s 50s Brown Green Swedish Skol Description This is a very unusual and rare-to-find vintage pottery pitcher by Maxine Cloud for California Pottery. It is the typical wood-tone brown matte glaze with glossy green glaze accent. There is raised lettering that appears to be in Swedish. I couldn't get a translation that made sense on Google Translate, but I think it is probably a drinking toast of some sort. This is a charming and very unique piece, and I think, quite a find for the Maxine Cloud pottery collector. It is signed on the bottom - appears to be incised by hand. There is also the number 37 It dates to the years between 1945-1953. In excellent condition with no damage of any kind. From a smoke-free home. MEASURES about 7 1/2" tall, and about 8" across including spout and handle. Postage options: Priority or Parcel Select. Weight: approx 4 pounds with packaging. ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Potter Maxine Cloud produced a number of different items like pitchers, ashtrays, trays and low bowls in the 1940s-1950s. She designed pieces that combined colorful glazes (usually greens) with a wood-tone stain directly on bisque. In many of her pieces, the basic form is slip cast while added elements, such as the handles for pitchers or leaf decorations, are added later. A lot of her work emphasized natural forest elements such as leaves and flowers. Payment Please note that I am required to charge 7.125% sales tax to Missouri customers.
