pjsbabygirl2002 Store Here are all the titles Star Wars Trilogy IV, V, VI Bonus Material (Boxed Set) *Return of the Jedi *The empire Strikes Back *A New Hope Movie description One of the most exhilarating and influential trilogies in the history of motion pictures, George Lucas's sci-fi spectacular continues to capture the hearts and minds of individuals throughout the world. This release contains the STAR WARS trilogy (episodes IV-VI) in one glorious package. First up is STAR WARS; George Lucas's stunning sci-fi masterpiece, and arguably one of the most inventive and entertaining films ever made. As the adventure begins, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), an impulsive but goodhearted young man who lives on the dusty planet of Tatooine with his aunt and uncle, longs for the exciting life of a Rebel soldier. The Rebels, led by the headstrong Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), are fighting against the evil Empire, which has set about destroying planets inhabited by innocent citizens with the Death Star, a fearsome planetlike craft commanded by Grand Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing) and the eternally frightful Darth Vader (David Prowse, with the voice of James Earl Jones). When Luke's aunt and uncle are murdered by the Empire's imperial stormtroopers and he mysteriously finds a distress message from Princess Leia in one of his androids, R2-D2 (Kenny Baker), he must set out to find Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), a mysterious old hermit with incredible powers. On his journey, Luke is aided by the roguish, sarcastic mercenary Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his towering furry sidekick Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) as they run into a host of perilous situations while trying to rescue the princess--and the entire galaxy. Considered the most morally and emotionally complex of the original Star Wars trilogy, THE EMPIRE STRIKE BACK continues creator George Lucas's epic saga where STAR WARS left off. The Rebel Forces--which include young adventurer Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), rogue pilot Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and the beautiful but seemingly humorless Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher)--have been successful in destroying the Evil Empire's Death Star. However, the Empire's top commander, the terrifying Lord Darth Vader (played by David Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones), is scanning the galaxy for the Rebels' secret location. After a visually stunning showdown on the ice planet Hoth, the Rebels are forced to flee, and Luke separates from Han and Leia. Masterful storytelling weaves multiple, archetypal plotlines that pit Vader against Han and Leia as he desperately attempts to capture Luke for political--and, secretly, personal--reasons. Luke, meanwhile, finds himself under the tutelage of the tiny but powerful old Jedi Master Yoda, who teaches him the ways of the Force and warns the impatient but talented student against the threat of the Dark Side. Greek tragedy meets a philosophical hero's journey in EMPIRE, a remarkable sci-fi epic in which the performances are as powerful as the spectacular special effects. The third and final chapter in the wondrous STAR WARS saga is RETURN OF THE JEDI. Luke (Mark Hamill) must save Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from the clutches of the monstrous Jabba the Hut, and bring down the newly reconstructed--and even more powerful--Death Star. With Solo imprisoned, Luke accompanies his faithful droids R2D2 (Kenny Baker) and C3PO (Anthony Daniels) in a rescue bid, with Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) also lending a hand. After they valiantly disentangle their friends from Jabba's clutches, Luke returns to his Jedi Knight training with Yoda. Meanwhile, the Rebel Troops amass in an attempt to see off the impending threat from Darth Vader (played by David Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones) and his new Death Star, with the operation being lead by Han Solo. But Luke must face Vader himself if he is to become a true Jedi Knight, and as he enters into a spirited battle with his light saber-wielding enemy, some surprising revelations await the young warrior. Never-Before-Seen Footage Theatrical releases: May 25, 1977 (STAR WARS), May 21, 1980 (THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK), May 25, 1983 (RETURN OF THE JEDI). STAR WARS was passed up by a number of studios before 20th Century Fox finally providing a 10 million budget for the film. The subtitle EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE didn't appear in the original title sequence for STAR WARS. It first appeared in the remastered version which Lucas produced in 1997. David Prowse, who plays Darth Vader, allegedly had no idea during filming that his vocal parts would be replaced in post-production by the voice of James Earl Jones. Jabba The Hutt was portrayed by a human actor whose dialogue was in English in the original version of STAR WARS, but the scene was cut from the final print of the film. George Lucas restored it, and replaced the actor with a CGI version of Jabba in the 1997 remastered edition of the film. STAR WARS was an original selection to the Library of Congress National Film Registry in 1989. George Lucas altered the dialogue at the end of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK in post-production so that he could prevent the surprise conclusion from leaking to the press. On set Darth Vader actor David Prowse said "Obi-Wan Kenobi is your father" to Luke. In the finished film Vader says "I am your father." John Ratzenberger, "Cliff" from TV's CHEERS, had a small part as Major Derlin in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. The working title for RETURN OF THE JEDI was REVENGE OF THE JEDI. The production was kept under wraps via the cast and crew, who informed anyone who asked that they were shooting a movie called "Blue Harvest." The Ewoks weren't in the original script of RETURN OF THE JEDI, which contained a planet inhabited by Wookies. This idea was discarded when it was decided a more primitive race was needed to inhabit the planet, and the Ewoks were born. George Lucas revisited the trilogy in the late 1990s to make a series of amendments to the special effects, largely caused by the advancements in CGI technology that weren't available to him when the original films were conceived. The 2004 release of the STAR WARS TRILOGY DVD boxed set saw further special effects work added at Lucas's behest. The videocassettes of the trilogy were the first to be digitally mastered in THX. The THX process was developed by LucasFilm and named after George Lucas's early science fiction film THX-1138 (1971). Mission Imposible - Tom Cruise Movie description Tom Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt, leader of a crack squad of intelligence operatives, in this labyrinthine action-thriller based on the hit 1960s-'70s television series. When a dangerous mission in Prague goes inexplicably wrong, Hunt finds himself out in the cold. A mole has infiltrated the CIA, and suspicions are that it's Hunt. His only chance: Find out who the real mole is and turn the tables. The plan takes him on an incredibly suspenseful infiltration of CIA security, leading to a spectacular chunnel climax that would make Hitchcock proud. Thanks to crisp, inventive direction from Brian De Palma and Danny Elfman's dynamite electronica score (including a catchy update of the original Lalo Schifrin theme), this mission is great fun. The talented roster of stars backing Cruise includes Ving Rhames, Vanessa Redgrave, John Voight, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Jean Reno. A witty script by Robert Towne (CHINATOWN, SHAMPOO) and David Koepp keeps the ball rolling in unexpected directions, with the paranoia always set to high. A box-office record-setter during its original release, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE led to a well-deserved sequel, also with Cruise and Rhames. Credits Producer: Paula Wagner, Tom Cruise Cast: Emmanuelle Beart, Henry Czerny, Jean Reno, Jon Voight, Kristin Scott Thomas, Tom Cruise, Vanessa Redgrave, Ving Rhames Notes DVD Features: Region 4 Days of Thunder - Tom Cruise Movie description Cole Trickle (Tom Cruise) is a young, cocky hotshot with little stock car driving experience and a lot of raw talent. Trickle's uncanny ability to make all the right moves on the racetrack wins him the backing of Tim Dolan (Randy Quaid), who wants to put him in a car. Eventually he wins the support of grizzled former driver Harry Hogge (Robert Duvall), a NASCAR legend who sees that Trickle has the potential to be a great driver. Determined to make it to the top, Trickle develops a healthy rivalry with veteran racer Rowdy Burns (Michael Rooker). Along the way, he romances Dr. Claire Lewicki (Nicole Kidman), a beautiful neurosurgeon. Hogge's mentoring (and a potential tragedy) leads Trickle through the dramatic process of self-discovery, which ultimately makes him a better driver. Directed by Tony Scott, DAYS OF THUNDER is reminiscent of his TOP GUN, the film that rocketed Cruise to stardom. Scott uses spectacular driving and racing scenes in this film, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound. Credits Producer: Jerry Bruckheimer Cast: Cary Elwes, Chris Ellis, John C. Reilly, Michael Rooker, Nicole Kidman, Randy Quaid, Robert Duvall, Tom Cruise Details Sound: Surround Sound Notes DVD Features: Region 4 Forever Young - Mel Gibson Movie description A test pilot loses his true love so he volunteers to become cryogenically frozen for an experiment. Many years later a group of young boys stumble across his frozen capsule and revive him. He befriends the boy's mother and learns that his old sweetheart is still alive. Can they be reunited after so much time has gone by? Credits Producer: Bruce Davey Cast: Amanda Foreman, Art Lafleur, Ava Lazar, Cody Burger, David Marshall Grant, Dean Hallo, Elijah Wood, Eric Pierpoint, George Wendt, Isabel Glasser, J.D. Cullum, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Chandler, Jason Iorg, Joe Morton, Kenny Ransom, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Surovy, Paul Ganus, Richard Ryder, Robert Hy Gorman, Veronica Lauren, Walton Goggins Notes DVD Features: Region 4 Spiderman 2 - Full Screen Movie description Sam Raimi's follow-up to SPIDER-MAN finds Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) struggling to balance his everyday life with his alter ego as the web-slinging superhero. Still carrying the burden of keeping his crime-fighting identity from those closest to him--including his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), his best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco), and his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris)--Parker must also face off against a dangerous new menace, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a scientist driven mad by experiments involving powerful mechanical arms. When the deranged Octavius (AKA Doc Ock) forms an alliance with the vengeful Osborn, who blames Spider-Man for the death of his father, the wall-crawling hero is in for his biggest battle yet. With SPIDER-MAN 2, Raimi retains--and improves on--all of the elements that made the first film so good, including an excellent story (crafted, in part, by acclaimed novelist Michael Chabon), tight pacing, and stunning special effects. Parker's internal conflicts are even greater than before, and Maguire adds emotional depth to every scene. Returning actors Dunst, Franco, Harris, and J.K. Simmons (once again portraying Parker's tough-talking boss, J. Jonah Jameson) are all pitch-perfect in their roles, and, as the once-noble Octavius, Molina is remarkable, relishing his villainous lines, while giving the character a surprisingly vulnerable side. Throughout the movie, Raimi expertly balances drama and humor with dynamic action sequences, making SPIDER-MAN 2 feel more like a continuation of the original tale rather than an obligatory sequel. For a Hollywood movie, that's a real feat. Credits Producer: Avi Arad, Laura Ziskin Cast: Alfred Molina, J.K. Simmons, James Franco, Kirsten Dunst, Rosemary Harris, Tobey Maguire Details Edition: 2-Disc Special Edition; Widescreen Notes DVD Features: Region 4 IN THEATRES: JUNE 30, 2004 Collateral - Tom Cruise / Jamie Foxx Movie description Jamie Foxx plays Max, a Los Angeles cab driver who has a pretty wild night in this thriller from Michael Mann (HEAT, THE INSIDER). First, Max picks up, flirts with, and gets the number of Annie (Jada Pinkett Smith), an attractive District attorney. Next, Vincent (Tom Cruise) climbs into his cab. He is a professional hit man who reserves Max for the night with a whole shopping list of victims he needs to visit. As the night moves forward and the body count rises, Max must wrestle with the question of how to do the right thing while staying alive. Gradually the two men bond in unlikely ways, as each learns survival mechanisms from the other, and it all doubles as a metaphor for morality vs. capitalism. Mark Ruffalo and Peter Berg play cops who eventually get on Max and Vincent's trail, leading to a spectacular action set piece inside a night club. Irma P. Hall (2004's THE LADYKILLERS) gets laughs as Max's hospitalized "momma," and Javier Bardem (BEFORE NIGHT FALLS) is a sinister drug lord. With a capable director like Mann at the wheel, this remains a smooth, enjoyable ride while also being fast, bumpy, and full of twists and turns. The streets of urban, nighttime Los Angeles--captured via a specially modified digital camera--never looked so beautiful or desolate. As typical of the director, the film is both artistic and action-packed; operatically over-the-top while never skimping on the little details. Credits Producer: Julie Richardson, Michael Mann Cast: Bruce McGill, Irma P. Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Javier Bardem, Mark Ruffalo, Peter Berg, Tom Cruise Notes DVD Features: Region 4 Snap Case THEATRICAL RELEASE: AUGUST 6, 2004 The Punisher - Tom Jane / Jone Travolta Movie description Marvel Comics presents a second big-screen version of THE PUNISHER, with this action-packed adaptation from screenwriter-turned-director Jonathan Hensleigh. Frank Castle (Tom Jane) is a retired F.B.I. agent spurred into action after the merciless slaying of his wife, father, and son. Adopting the superhero guise of The Punisher, Castle aims to wreak vengeance for his dead family by tracking down the culprits responsible for their demise. All clues point to Howard Saint (John Travolta), a ruthless businessman and nightclub owner whose son was mistakenly killed by Castle in a botched undercover operation back in his F.B.I. days. Unique amongst Marvel superheroes, The Punisher possesses no special powers, just remarkable strength parried with a blind determination to avenge his family. As he hunts down Saint, Castle surrounds himself with three fellow societal outcasts to get the job done, namely Joan (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos), Bumpo (John Pinette), and Dave (Ben Foster). Director Hensleigh eschews flashy CGI effects for the bulk of the movie, and instead reverts to old action-movie staples such as thrilling stunt work, gunfights, and huge explosions. The old-fashioned feel suits The Punisher well, providing an apt mirror of the hero's own lack of super powers. Hensleigh winds the film through a thrilling white-knuckle ride to its spectacular conclusion, ultimately providing a highly appropriate movie for one of Marvel's lesser-known comic book heroes. Credits Producer: Avi Arad Cast: Ben Foster, John Pinette, John Travolta, Laura Elena Harring, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Rob Schneider, Samantha Mathis, Thomas Jane, Will Patton Details Edition: Limited Time Mini Comic Books Notes DVD Features: Region 4 These DVD's were purchased here on eBay by myself in January.
