Item description

We are pleased to offer for your consideration this lovely color view postcard of the Hotel Dennis in Atlantic City, N, published by Dexter Press, Inc of West Nyack, NY. Thomas Dexter Press, better known as Dexter Press, was in business from 1934 until 1980 and were a major printer of a wide variety of postcards subjects as linens and photochromes. Thomas A. Dexter was the inventor of gang printing. The Company merged with MWM Color Press in 1980 to become MWM Dexter, and they moved to Aurora, MO. The Dennis Hotel was once one of the most magnificent hotels in Atlantic City. Presently it is part of Bally's and is still in use as a hotel. However it was somewhat rundown and hid behind a series of stores that had been built in front of it on the boardwalk. Recently Bally's decided to renovate and upgrade the Dennis. This 24M restoration project included tearing down the stores in front of it, thus opening up the Dennis's courtyard to the boardwalk and renovating and modernizing the hotel rooms. The front of this card features a full bleed (the view goes all the way to the edge of the card), Photochrome view of the hotel as seen from the air and from the ocean side. guests can be seen on the beach in front and walking around the grounds, and the beach umbrellas are scattered along the beach. The back is a divided back postcard with the publisher's info serving as the division. In the upper right is one paragraph about the Hotel and at the bottom right is another with a list of the amenities and the contact info for the Hotel. Under that paragraph is the Dexter ware number, "74891". This card is in good condition a small crease in the upper right corner and slight curling or waviness of the card, itself. the card has been postmarked Sept, 15, 1955. This card will a perfect addition to your collection of Atlantic City hotels, Boardwalk views and beach views of New jersey, as well as your collection of Dexter Press postcards.
