More about this item

TARZAN OF THE APES Edgar Rice Burroughs A. L. Burt, 1915. The book is over 100 years old. A 1915 copy. The earliest copy in the green silhouette, orange and light green design after Fred Arting, whose jacket design was on the first 1914 A. C. McClurg book of "Tarzan of The Apes." A. L. Burt Company published this book from 1915 to 1927. This book follows the same stamping design on the cover with the embossment and same dust jacket design of the 1914 McClurg first edition, which is very expensive in it original dust jacket. This Burt Co. printing design follows that design. The book is bound in slick emerald green cloth, with the same embossing on the front board as in the first 1914 book edition, with the same number of pages and same pagination, printed from the same plates. The fragile flake white lettering is present on the front board, some flaking on the spine letter as shown. Else the book is fine. The dust jacket is very good to near fine but for the little bit of wear as shown, a closed tear also as shown. No tape or other factors marring this jacket, as shown. It is rare to find this particular printing in such nice condition. The first edition in jacket sells in five figures now (50K-65L) and this would be a good alternative for a collector.
