Item description

Manufacturer: Fenton Style: Fluted Crystal Crested Bowl Color: Milk Glass with Translucent Emerald Crest Size: 7 inch. Condition: AMAZON CONDITION NEW; COLLECTIBLE LIKE NEW. New, means never used, just sits there on the shelf. Never washed. The Emerald Crested Milk Glass Bowel is considered rare. Fenton's prolific milk glass lines in the '50s and '60s helped them survive to be one of the few American art glass firms left today. Their Crest series featured milk glass with applied ruffled edges of clear crystal in the more common Silver Crest line, or the scarcer edge colors of Emerald Crest, Peach Crest, Aqua Crest, Amber Crest, and Ivory Crest. Milk glass in the United states is rarely produced any longer. This is because Fluoride used in the process corrodes the molds which means it is not commercially viable. Most of Fenton's emerald, white and Rosaline molds had to quit production after only 3 years because of the cost of constantly replacing molds. In addition, the EPA regulations regarding fluoride leaching into rivers and streams make it hard for American manufacturers to continue making milk glass. Some European countries and Mexico are known to continue producing and Mexican reproductions flood the U.S. Market. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION. IT IS A FENTON ORIGINAL. Shipping: I will combine shipments to save money; and any excess shipping charges are refunded at the time of shipping. GIFT WRAPPING IS AVAILABLE. PRIORITY AND EXPRESS MAIL ARE AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTRA CHARGE.
