Item description

We are pleased to offer for your consideration this lovely Plastichrome postcard view of the Cap des Rosiers Lighthouse at Gaspe, Province of Quebec, Canada, published by H.V. Henderson of West Bathurst, NB, Canada. Plastichrome is a registered process of Colourpicture of Canada and the U.S.. Colourpicture was in business from 1938 until 1969 and they were a major publisher and printer of linen view-cards of the United States. They later went on to publish photochromes and small spiral bound picture booklets under the name trade name Plastichrome in the 1950's. They printed postcards for other publishers, as well and in this case they printed for H.V. Henderson, who was in business from 1920 until 1961. H. V. Henderson was a photographer who captured many views of eastern Canada. He is especially noted for his scenes of the Gaspe Peninsular in Quebec. These images were turned into real photo postcards, some of which were hand colored, as well as having some images printed in black white and color gravure. They can be found with and without borders. Many of these cards were distributed through the Canadian National Railway. Henderson also did photo processing work for others and often advertised these services on the back of his cards. The front of this card features a lovely color view of the gleaming white lighthouse and red-roofed out-buildings atop the cliffs, overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. There is a ship visible in the background, far out to sea. The back of the card is a divided back postcard with the printer's info as the division and the publisher's info along the left margin. At the top of the left side, is a brief description of the view on the front. At the top of the division and slightly to the right is the Colourpicture ware number, P4780. Above all of this is the Henderson "Gaspe" Logo. This card is in Good condition with a moisture stain on the left side of the front and a corner crease on the right top. This card will make a nice addition to your collection of Henderson views of Gaspe, Colourpicture postcards made in Canada, views of Lighthouses, ships at sea from the shore, and views of cliffs and seashore of Canada.
