This is a fabulously beautiful High impact necklace!! See the appraisal included within the listing. I think that means it is lab made amethyst but still cost me a fortune because i like the style, hence why i am selling it for a fraction of the apprasial According to Ural Diamond Bourse " The majority of amethyst today comes from Africa and South America. Generally, Africa is regarded as a source of small quantities of the finest material whilst South America is a prolific source of the lighter-colored, less expensive stones." Siberia also has the best color saturated Amethyst. in the old days Amethysts from Siberia especially the Ural region commandered as much price as ruby, emerald and sapphires, because they were limited in quantity. Zambian or African Amethyst is comparable to the deeply saturated color of the Ural Amethysts. In Africa, Zambia has long been known as the source of the best quality, deeply saturated amethyst; and “Zambian” is often used as a term to describe top-color stone (even if it comes from another part of the world)." Also according to the same source when looking at what comprises the price value for Amethyst color is the most important, According to the same source "Important value factors Color is the most important value factor for amethyst. The finest – and most valuable – amethyst color is strong reddish purple or purple, with no visible colour zoning. Strongly saturated gems of medium-dark to dark reddish purple or purple are preferable, as long as they are not too dark to detract from brilliance. Any brownish or bronze-coloured tints in the amethyst’s purple colour, or any colour-zoning noticeable face-up lower its value dramatically. Grades often used by trade to classify amethyst quality Amethyst grades are based mainly on color: with the finest amethysts displaying strongly saturated, medium-dark to dark reddish purple or purple, with no visible color zoning or brownish/bronze-colored tints. “AAA” / ”African” / ”Zambian” / "Deep Siberian" The highest quality amethyst is often described by one of these names. The stones falling into this category display vivid, medium-dark to dark reddish-purple or purple color with no visible face-up colour zoning. the lighter stones or less saturdated stones are less expensive. Check out the amethyst on this listing, you have to agree that the stones possess deep saturated dark purple color, which is indicative of the most expensive amethyst money can buy. You are getting this necklace for a steal based on the color. Because amethyst was thought to encourage celibacy and symbolize piety, it became an important ornament of Catholic and other churches of the Middle Ages. It was considered to be the stone of bishops, who still often wear amethyst rings. Amethyst has also been used since the dawn of history to adorn the rich and powerful monarchs and rulers. Fine amethysts are featured in the British Crown Jewels and were also a favorite of Catherine the Great and Egyptian royalty. take a look at the pictures and i am sure you will conclude that the amethyst is deeply saturated purple.
