Item description

THE FICKLE FINGER OF FATE by John A. Keel Fawcett Gold Medal Books, First Printing, 1966 Condition: Very Good- This is a fun book, but regretfully it's hard to find (which is why I'm offering only one copy and lucky to have that). It's the second book by Keel; the first was about the Indian rope trick or the yeti, or probably both. FICKLE -- "A Camp Classic For Adults Only"-- is about neither, but it is a spoof of spies and superheroes (SATYR-MAN!), enhanced by the full-page illustrations of Al Jaffee (unbilled), who also graced the pages of Mad Magazine, of which this novel reminds me (even though it's mostly text). But back to Keel: He went on to write about UFOs and Fortean Phenomena; he's best remembered (he died two years ago) for his novel THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES (remember the movie?) and for coining the term "Men in Black" (remember the movies?). He is less remembered for his book, DISNEYLAND OF THE GODS (would I kid you?). This book (FICKLE, that is) has a creasy (is that a word?) upper corner, light creases on the other cover corners, reading creases, discoloration (or whatever) along the spine, and a slight spine lean. The interior has 3 or 4 mostly small corner creases, but the book has tight binding (which is why I decided not to try scanning the inside pix), but the pages are age-toned. The book is OOP (not to be confused with Oops) and Scarce (or did I already say that?)???
