New York: Harcourt Brace Co.. Published 1949 - later printing dated 1954. Blue cloth hardcover with title on cover and spine in gilt, in no dust jacket. 307 pp. Measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/4" tall. A revision and expansion of Hayakawa's first book, Language in Action. Book in good condition with flaws noted: Overall, book is clean and tight. Corners and head/tail of spine slightly bumped and rubbed. Previous owner's signature in pen on end paper. Else, no interior writing, marks, tears, stamps, etc. Tight binding with no loose pages and no spine cracks. Not ex-library or remainder marked. Some moisture staining along back fore edge and front lower edge of cloth. Staining does not penetrate into the pages.
