Item description

Here for your delectation is the SPECTACULAR RARE--------------------LETTERS OF MRS. ADAMS, THE WIFE OF JOHN ADAMS, VOLUME I by Abigail Adams, with an INTRODUCTORY MEMOIR by Her Grandson, Charles Francis Adams. SING ALONG: They're creepy and they're kooky, Mysterious and spooky, They're all together ooky, The Addams Family. Their house is a museum Where people come to see 'em They really are a scream The Addams Family. (Neat) (Sweet) (Petite) So get a witches shawl on A broomstick you can crawl on We're gonna pay a call on The Addams Family. OOPS-----wrong family!! Abigail Adams (n Smith; November 11, 1744 – October 28, 1818) was the wife of John Adams, who was the second President of the United States, and the mother of John Quincy Adams, the sixth. She was the first Second Lady of the United States, and the second First Lady of the United States. Abigail Adams is remembered for the many letters she wrote to her husband while he stayed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the Continental Congresses. John Adams frequently sought the advice of his wife on many matters, and their letters are filled with intellectual discussions on government and politics. The letters are invaluable eyewitness accounts of the Revolutionary War home front as well as excellent sources of political commentary. Incredibly fascinating old book!! This is the hardcover stated Harper Edition from 1841 (gasp!). Other than 2-inch cloth tear at the bottom of the spine and illustrated flyleaf could use a bit of reinforcement (fully intact!), both the beautifully embossed cover and the book are in remarkably good condition for its age. There are no rips, tears, markings, etc.---and the pages and binding are tight (see photo). **Note: All books listed as FIRST EDITIONS are stated by the publisher in words or number lines--or--only stated editions that include only the publisher and publication date.
