Item description

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE Poster, nicely signed and visible by Maurice Sendak in the lower right corner. Unmatted and unframed. Berkeley,CA: published by The Peaceable Kingdom Press, copyright by Maurice Sendak in 1963 Beautiful signed poster by Maurice Sendak; the most influential childrenโ€™s illustrator of the last century and this century who set the standard for other illustrators in the genre. I met him several times and he was a wonderful man. He was impressed with my detailed miniature etchings and ended up with four of them. You can see my work and other places on the Internet. A beautiful 18" x 24 1/4" color poster on heavy paper of characters from Maurice Sendak's epic children's book "Where The Wild Things Are." This fine poster signed nicely by Maurice Sendak. I have left this poster on its original backing board and with the original shrink wrap. The photos taken show this. I personally presented this poster to Maurice Sendak for his signature decades ago. He signed it in the light area in the lower right corner. No fading to the signature or the colours as I kept it in darkness since I acquired the poster and after it was signed. There is a slight tape residue (which can be removed but I decided to just leave as it would not be visible at all when the poster is framed) on the right edge of the poster (I turned up the corner to show part of the verso where this is- please see the last photo), else this poster is still in the cellophane shrink-wrap (I cut a portion of it back so Maurice could sign it) and backing as I acquired it many years ago-as new. In the upper right edge there is a minute area of edge wear (please see my photo). This is a nice colourful poster of his most famous book and is not faded and suitable for framing. If one is going to buy a signed Maurice Sendak poster this is the subject matter, with his most famous book and characters from that book. I will provide a letter of assurance with a photo of the signature on it stating that I presented this item to Maurice Sendak for his signature. This poster will be sent insured and well packaged. I will consider reasonable offers. If you need more photos or have more questions, just let me know. Thank you, John Anthony Miller Phantom Bookshop Ventura, California USA
