Item description

MISTER OLE By Richard Bennett Mister Ole by Richard Bennett Special edition published by E.M. Hale Company, Wisconsin; copyright 1940. Cadmus Edition. This special edition is published by arrangement with the publishers of the regular edition Doubleday, Doran Co., Inc. by E.M. Hale and Company. Grade: 4- 6 Summary: Ever since the O'Briens had moved from Ireland to the clearing near Puget Sound they had wished for neighbors. Then one afternoon the strangest looking outfit appeared, a circus wagon driven by a funny little man with whiskers, a dog and two monkeys. The O'Briens didn't know what a fine neighbor Mister Ole was going to be. Had it not been for him, Johnny and Michael would never have brought the Indian canoe home to use as a watering trough; and had it not been for the watering trough, there would not have been water to put out the fire in the barn. Through it all, Johnny and Michael found Mister Ole the most delightful of companions, and even Granny was pleased when he decided to stay in the little cabin across the road. Beautiful vintage illustrations. Illustrations in both Color and Black White (Assume they are by the Author, not stated). Pictorial Hard cover about 8" x 10.25"--Pages: 61.
