Item description

THE DUTCH SHOE MYSTERY by Ellery Queen Pocket Books, 1942 First Paperback Printing Condition: Very Good In 1930 and 1931, Frederick Danney and Manfred Lee wrote two landmark novels in the American mystery field -- THE ROMAN HAT MYSTERY THE DUTCH SHOE MYSTERY -- the first of their many Ellery Queen stories, using the detective's name as their pseudonym. In a way never quite done before, the authors provided the reader with all the clues they needed to solve the murder, then, puzzle-like, challenged the reader to do so before reading the conclusion. After 12 hardback printings, this novel finally reached paperback in December 1942. This copy has pretty modest overall cover wear and some red dye stains (from the edges) on the back cover. A name is written in pencil on the ffep. The pages are still white, as is common in these early Pocket editions. Three page corner creases at the front of the book.
