Clarkia Mix is the classic cut flower. Grows well in containers or garden beds, and prefers poor soil. Flowering will be reduced in hot weather. While plants are still small, intersperse your Clarkia bed with twiggy branches to provide support as they grow. Tall plants will need staking. Crowding Clarkia plants may increase flower production. Clarkia may self-sow. Clarkia is a hardy annual that can be started in early spring everywhere and in the Fall or Spring in mild winter climates. This flower is deer and rabbit resistant. Clarkia also attracts butterflies. The common blooming period for garland flower is between April and June when the sun is at a higher angle compared to fall and winter but the climate remains cool and mild. Each 1-foot-tall stalk grows between six and 10 flowers, but plants easily grow taller if provided with nutrient-rich soil. The blossoms, however, do not last much longer than four weeks. Because your climate may still be suitable for another blooming, deadheading near the end of the four-week-period can help stimulate another blossom flush. All of our seeds have been hand processed, packaged and tested for germination rates. We add padding to our package seeds for added protection. The seed will arrive in plastic bags that can be resealed for your convenience. We cannot guarantee the rate of germination will match what we have tested at due to individual growing environments. If you need additional information about growing our seeds please email us. All seeds are labeled with growing information.
