Item description

MAIN STREET by Sinclair Lewis Facsimile dust jacket (no book) A rendered facsimile dust jacket for the first edition book of MAIN STREET. This jacket will also fit subsequent early printings if you have one. The book was published in 1921 by Harcourt, Brace and Company. Please note: As on ALL our book jackets, there will be an attached signed label on the verso of the jacket signed and stating that this is a facsimile dust jacket, also the monogram "JAM" of the artist, and "Facsimile Dust Jacket" printed tastefully near the bottom of the rear jacket flap and "John Anthony Miller Studio." These jackets are restored and printed by myself one at a time as needed, they will never ever be a mass produced product and are works of art. No more than 15 or 20 of these jackets, if that, a year will be published as these are time-consuming and labor intensive to produce. I work alone, as a solitary artist. This is a labour of love for the book lover and person who loves fine literature and art. I am primarily known in the art world for my intricate miniature etchings and engravings. You can "Google" my name to find out more about me. This facsimile dust jacket will also fit most of the later early editions. I COMBINE SHIPPING ON MULTIPLE JACKETS. I WILL ADJUST this after purchase as a credit though PayPal. So, do NOT get distraught if you see a larger shipping price after you purchase two or more. Usually I can get a lot of jackets in a parcel and the shipping price will be like it is for one jacket. The original dust jacket was digitally scanned restored from an original by fine artist John Anthony Miller and has been trimmed, enclosed in a Mylar jacket protector. It has been printed with archival inks on acid-free 120GSM paper. This facsimile dust jacket has "Facsimile Dust Jacket" tastefully printed on the rear jacket panel and has the monogram of "JAM" at the bottom of the rear jacket panel. Additionally, this dust jacket has a signature in pencil by the artist (known world-wide for his exquisite and highly detailed miniature etchings and engravings) on the VERSO of the jacket for those of you now collecting the jackets only for the art, as many are now framing these separately from the book. John Anthony Miller, Phantom Bookshop, Ventura, CA -Official Engraver of Hospitaller Orderof St. Lazarus of Jerusalem United States Grand Priory (United States of America Call to Service Award (highest award of its type for community service to others) with Certificate and pin medal in formal black tie ceremony from President Barack Obama September 2014) -Official artist Knight at The Knights Of Saint Michael Martial Arts Association (Evangelical Anglican Church in America) Thank you very much for you kind response to my facsimile dust jackets. These are made one by one by hand with great care. They will NEVER be mass produced, and are made for reader and collector alike. I have received many positive comments about my work in making and printing these facsimile jackets. Here is one of them: "John's unique artistry was evident as soon as I saw The Great Gatsby dust jacket. Having seen scores of facsimile jackets, John's work is in a completely different league. The rich tonal quality of the colors is breathtaking and the weight of the paper is carefully considered. He satisfied the needs of the most demanding client, even during a personally trying time. I look forward to doing continued business with him in the future and give him my highest recommendation." Ryan Dohm, Profiles in History --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few highlight comments about the art work and quality of John Anthony Miller which will translate over into the reproduction dust jacket work: His art is in "collections" of The Smithsonian Institution, Chicago Art Science Industry, The Carnegie Art Museum, Chicago Art Institute, Clarke Humanities Museum at Scripps College, President Obama, The Ambassador to The People's Republic of China, etc. and other notable people. COLLEEN MOORE: "You are a such a magnificent artist!" - Colleen Moore, silent screen and motion picture star, 1982. MAURICE SENDAK: "Thank you for the lovely etchings!" - Maurice Sendak, Children's book illustrator, 1981 SIFU MANUEL RODRIGUEZ: "John Anthony Miller is a gifted artist." - Master M. Rodriguez, Red Dragon Classical Guitar and Kung Fu Academy and Olympic Trainer of Martial Artists. 2010 FREDERICK GRUE: "John Anthony Miller is a true professional." - Frederick Grüe 1979, World's Premiere Still Life Painter. John Anthony Miller was a student of Grüe. JOHNNY CASH: "I like your work very much." -Johnny Cash , 1978, Legendary Country Singer Musician. WILLIAM F. NOLAN: "The unique art of John Anthony Miller is a joy to behold. His wondrous talent shines, diamond-bright, from each work...a talent to cherish." -William F. Nolan 2009, co-author of "Logan's Run" RAY BRADBURY: "(edited)...how wonderful and what a genius you are. You have an incredible talent, John, and I hope you know that...All my love, Ray." -Ray Bradbury 2010. Ray Bradbury is the author of "Fahrenheit 451" and the world's most beloved author, recipient of France's highest medal of artistic honor and White House Medal of Honor in The Creative Arts. (ADDENDA: Ray Bradbury loved my dust jacket work and bought well over two dozen of them in the latter years of his lifetime for his own books and those books in his library.)
