Item description

SPHERE LAZZA - Ultimate Abyss MAXI CD single, Acid Victim Records. Sphere Lazza was originally born in 1992 simply as a project for music programmer Tony Spaz. He found a partner, [dt] (David Trousdale), and later picked up two other band members, Alex LaFrantz on guitar, and Jason Smith on drums. Thereafter, the band recorded The Enemy Within and went on a tour of sorts, playing a number of shows. The band was highly successful, but in the midst of all their shows, they seemed to have lost their focus. While recording their third album, The Paradigm Shift, Sphere Lazza splintered and the band members went their separate directions. A number of years later, Spaz and Trousdale began writing and recording for their own pleasure, and the rumor spread that the band was reuniting. Thus, the pair decided to reform the band with only two members for the time being, and reverted to their EBM roots. Ultimate Abyss commences with three different mixes of the title track. While the track seems a bit rough around the edges at first, it becomes slightly more addictive each time. However, it does start to get somewhat repetitive listening to three versions of the same track sequentially. “Nemesis” follows with an enticing melody and entrancing beat. Ultimate Abyss diverges onto a much darker, more sinister path with “Terminal Ferocity,” and is superseded by “Distance.” This track endeavors on the more uplifting side of the electro-industrial genre. The album culminates on a high note with the emotionally sublime “Dark Energy.” Inspired by Front 242 and Front Line Assembly, Sphere Lazza has always been notable due to its provocative melodies and convoluted song structures. CD is in EXCELLENT condition. Limited release. Hard to find. Tracks: 1. Ultimate Abyss 2. Ultimate Abyss (Gravitational Collapse Mix) 3. Ultimate Abyss (CygnusX-1 RemiX-1) 4. Nemesis (Menacing Orbit Mix) 5. Terminal Ferocity 6. Distance 7. Dark Energy (Version 1)
