Item description

The Case of the Famished Parson George Bellairs 1949 HC/DJ The Case of the Famished Parson George Bellairs The Macmillan Company, 1949 181 pages First printing The binding is in good condition, the pages are clean but lightly tanned. The black cover with yellow lettering shows light wear. The jacket is scuffed and has some small edge tears. The front flap is clipped as if price clipped but the price is printed at the bottom of the flap. Good in good dust-jacket. Hardcover. Death - brutal and sudden - comes to Dr. James Macintosh, the Bishop of Greyle, in the opening pages of the new Bellairs mystery. How to explain the savage murder of so gentle and unworldly a soul? Did he know too much about the shady denizens of Cape Marvin, the seaside resort that is the scene of his demise? or did the reason have something to do with the strange family he had left behind in Medhope? Above all, why was the Bishop's body so emaciated that apparently death by violence won out by only a few days over death by starvation? (#00001788)
